On October 1, 2021 the tax on gas in Missouri increased. You may be eligible to receive a refund of the tax increase you pay on Missouri motor fuel in vehicles weighing less than 26,000 pounds.

In order to receive the refund you need to collect:

    1. Vehicle identification number of the motor vehicle which received the gas;
    2. Date of purchase;
    3. Name and address of seller;
    4. Exact number of gallons purchased to the third decimal point;
    The refund must be filed in the 2 months after the Missouri state fiscal year ends. For example if you purchased gas on 6/5/23 then you must file for the refund after July 1, 2023 and before September 30, 2023.  If you purchased gas on 11/5/23 then you must file for the refund after July 1, 2024 and before September 30, 2024.

There are three methods for filing for the refund.
